Tampa Bay Poke'mon League

We were created by a group of seniors in the class of 2009 at T.R. Robinson High School in Tampa, FL in an attempt to help unify and develop the Bay Area Poke'mon metagame. The way that we're working on to create a nifty new way of playing is by not only developing tournament-friendly teams made by EV grinding and IV crunching, but by establishing "Gyms", or user groups, where there is a moderator "Gym Leader" and other members in said group participating as "Gym Trainers". These titles will serve to classify users on the forum as well as in metagame play.

The way that actual "Gym" user groups will work will be like any gym in the regular game; users will be permitted teams of Poke'mon of one type (possibly ONE non-type Poke'mon, like Aaron's Drapion, to be approved by the Gym Leader(s).) and will fight"Gym Battles" against other gym trainers for cred, confidence, or why ever else you play the game.

For instance, the user "theillustriousc2" is the Bug Gym Leader. He has a team of six tournament-legal, multi-tier Poke'mon. He will moderate the "Bug Gym" group and will manage the Bug trainers. In his group, like any group, trainers will post their Wi-Fi friend codes and opt to battle eachother, trade, and generally laugh it up, like any forum.

Gym Leaders (and trainers) in the game give rewards when losing (i.e. Money, TMs...), and while it isn't mandatory, it's encouraged that forum members offer up Poke'mon eggs, hold items, TMs, berries, etc., as rewards for being defeated by "worthy" opponents.

Using this forum as a sort of venue, we hope to eventually run a sort of "Poke'mon League" of our own, which can only happen with member participation. Qualification for the League Tournament in each gym will be decided at the Gym Leader's discretion, but the actual tournament will be held in league form (i.e., all qualifying trainers will wind up fighting all other qualifying trainers and those with the highest win/lose ratio will be declared the winner).

The League will have either Gym-theme battles or Free-Style, anything goes battles. We also hope to hold tournament-style events for specific tiers, like OU, UU, or NU.

We will include more details as the site and the League develops, but until then, please join, battle, and have fun as a member of the Tampa Bay Poke'mon league!
